The governor Manchin signed a number of bills today on issues ranging from abortion to education.
A bill involving laser eye surgery allows optometrists to do three different types of surgeries that treat glaucoma. The bill sparked a debate between ophthalmologist and optometrists.
State Senator Ed Bowman (D-Hancock) says the signing of the law will make important surgeries more available, and more affordable to the citizens of West Virginia.
“We really did feel it was a piece of legislation that would benefit the state of West Virginia,”
he said.
